2016 Fashion Trends- colours, patterns and structure.
Well, it's officially January and the start of a New Year. And whilst we're all peeling ourselves out of our beds this week, the 2016 fashion forecast has marched in with bright colours, amazing patterns and textures.. all to start the fashion book of the year with a fresh and inspiring page.
First up... TIE DYE/PATCHWORK.
Yes, we know what you're thinking. But it's not your average university party tie dye. This tie dye is more like a watercolour blend of bright blues and cheery pinks, in a distinctly light-handed and elegant way. And the patchwork accessories lend a heaviness to the look, which completes the impact.
Next, we have BLUE ACCENTS.
Cobalt, aquamarine, teal, turquoise... blue will be showing up on clothes, hats, makeup and hair products. It's a great fresh colour that, depending on tone, can go with pretty much anything.
And then there are PLEATS.
Not just in boring old fashioned skirts, pleats are going to transform and accent anything form shirt sleeves, to necklines, and they'll be hidden amongst patterns and sequins to make them less severe and more creative.
Ahhh, and the classic: LACE.
Again, lace can be misinterpreted as being fussy and conformist, when this year it'll be shown on discreet panels in dresses, sleeves, hats and even boots.
And last but not least: METALLICS.
What's great about this look is that when clothes and accessories have metallic accents, you don't have to stop there. There's a parallel trend that usually goes with it, with metallic eyeshadows, so it makes the retro/80s vibe heavy-handed and bold (in a good way).
