Milan Fashion Week: Days 1 and 2... the revival of the 1970s
Over in Milan yesterday, the fashion-forward crowd piled in to watch the Fall-Winter preview of Gucci, Versace and Prada. There were a lot of 70s inspired prints, bourgeois-bohemian (or, "bobo" as it's been labeled) fabrics and styles, as well as sharp cuts and large overcoats. It was also treated as a timely homage to the passing of David Bowie, one of music and fashion's most-loved icons.
After a strong showing on Day 1, Day 2 followed with Ralph Lauren, Jil Sander, Neil Barrett, Marni and Costume National... all merging a sharp, minimalist British hunting aesthetic with colours like acid green and mustard yellow.
